Vacancy Announcement

DanChurchAid (DCA) is a faith-based, non-missionary organization. We work for the poor, vulnerable and socially excluded communities and believe in life before death. In Bangladesh, we are involved in development, and Humanitarian response and Disaster Risk Response. The DCA Bangladesh invites applications from qualified and competent Bangladeshi candidates for the following positions for GBV (Gender Based Violence) component of Rohingya Response Programme. The positons will be based in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh and contract period is for 6 months with possible extension.

01. Safe Space for Women and Girls Manager – Cox’s Bazar (2):

The SSWG (Safe Space for Women and Girls) Manager will have overall responsibility for the 3-4 centers of Safe Space for Women and Girls located in Rohingya Makeshift Settlement areas in Cox’s Bazar. She will oversee functions of the SSWG centers and provide guidance support to team. She will also build linkages with the other stakeholders. She will be working closely with the team to design activities that respond to identified needs and provide support, technical and management advices to the project implementation to the programme team to ensure that the SSWG centres’ activities are implemented according to guidelines and donor requirements. She will build networks and coordination with local service providing agencies, civil society and likeminded organizations and INGOs in operational areas. She will provide regular situation update reports of SSWG centers and prepare monthly/quarterly progress report. Her direct Line Manager would be the Team
Leader, technical Line Manager GBV – Protection Expert.

Required qualifications and competencies:

Postgraduate in psychology, women’s studies, social work or public health. Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in development works related to SSWG or GVB or relevant issue. Good working knowledge of the language spoken by Rohingya people. Clear understanding of gender, human rights, issues surrounding violence against women and girls. Experience working in emergency responses targeting vulnerable women and girls. Demonstrated understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients. Positive and professional attitude, including ability to lead and work well in a team setting. Strong ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail. Experience in writing brief narrative reports. Computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Fluency in Bengali and English required.

Salary: Between BDT 70,000 – 60,000 per month depending on experience.

02. Senior Response Officer – Cox’s Bazar (02):

The Senior Response Officer will oversee the women centre activities, the psychosocial and case management services in Rohingya Makeshift Settlement areas in Cox’s Bazar. She will oversee individual and group-based psychosocial activities. She will also oversee information collection and advocacy related to gender-based violence (GBV), health gaps and other services. This position will supervise the PSS Worker, Adolescent Girls Officer and activities carried out in safe spaces. She will provide technical support – reinforce adherence to the GBV guiding principles throughout all the activities; ensure response work with clients, including case management and psychosocial interventions. She will prepare and maintain/update detailed work plan(s), provide direct support and ongoing mentoring to GBV Case Workers. She will ensure the existence of a confidential space for case management. She will prepare and submit weekly, monthly and three-month work plans in a timely manner, and compile monthly activity report for submission, and monitor data collection. Her direct Line Manager would be the SSWG Manager, technical Line Manager GBV – Protection Expert.

Required qualifications and competencies:
Bachelor degree psychology, women’s studies, social work or public health. Good working knowledge of language spoken by Rohingya people. Counseling and training experience, including at least two years of experience counseling survivors of abuse or violence and implementing activities for women and girls or proven engagement in women’s rights/groups. Clear understanding of gender, human rights, issues surrounding violence against women and girls. Experience working in emergency responses targeting vulnerable women and girls. Experience in writing brief narrative reports. Computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Fluency in Bengali, English required.

Salary: Between BDT 50,000 – 60,000 per month.

03. Psychosocial Support (PSS) Worker – Cox’s Bazar – 07:

The PSS Worker works within the Women Safe Space and the community. She will disseminate information to targeted women and girls and their communities. She is responsible for ensuring that women and girls have access to and receive essential information. She will also assist the Snr Response Officer and Facilitators in engagement with focus groups and other psychosocial activities. She will build and maintain relationships with communities, including local leaders, community-based groups and other stakeholders. She will provide and reinforce appropriate referral of survivors of GBV. She will work with Safe Space for Women and Girls team ensure that the Women Safe Space is responding to the evolving needs of communities. She will complete monthly activity reports. She will maintain positive coordination and relationships with partner and other sector staff. She will be report to Senior Response Officer.

Required qualifications and competencies:

Bachelor degree psychology, women’s studies, or public health. Good working knowledge of language spoken by Rohingya people. Experience in community outreach, sensitization or mobilization. Strong communication and facilitation skills. Clear understanding of and interest in the well-being of women and girls, and supporting their healing after the experience of violence. Demonstrated commitment to women’s empowerment and protection through current/previous volunteer or paid work in women’s group, girls clubs or other relevant experience is an added advantage. Fluency in (Bengali, English, and local languages) required.

Salary: BDT 40,000 – 60,000 per month.

04. Adolescent Girls Officer – Cox’s Bazar – 07:

The Adolescent Girls Officer works in the Safe Space for Women and Girls (SSWG), her role is to support adolescent girls in the centre through provision of activities including: setting up information sessions, recreational sessions, and emotional support sessions. She will assist in the provision of age appropriate group activities, skills building, information sessions and other recreational activities that promote support networks and cohesion with adolescent girls at the women and girls centres/safe spaces. She will work with adolescent girls in the Safe Space for Women and Girls to identify their needs, interests and priorities, and where possible, adapt activities according to these to ensure activities offered are culturally appropriate and meet the needs of adolescent girls. She will assist implementation of training activities for adolescent girls. In collaboration with the Community Workers, she will conduct awareness raising activities on GBV and its health consequences, promote available services to adolescent girls.

Required qualifications and competencies:

Bachelor degree psychology, women’s studies, social work or public health. Good working knowledge of language spoken by Rohingya people. Minimum one year professional experience in implementing activities for women and girls proven engagement in women’s rights/groups. Personal qualities. Strong communication and facilitation skills. 05. Women and Girls Centre Facilitator – Cox’s Bazar – 02:

The Facilitator works in the Women and Girls Safe Space, her role is to support women and girls in the centrethrough provision of activities including: setting up information sessions, recreational sessions, and emotional support sessions. She will work with women and girls in the WSS to identify their needs, interests and priorities, and where possible, adapt activities according to these to ensure activities offered are culturally appropriate and meet the needs of women and girls. She will organize activities with women and adolescent girls and provide Psychosocial First Aid. She will share with the women and girls what options for her care are available, including what services can be provided and what services cannot. In collaboration with the Community Workers/Volunteers, conduct awareness raising activities on GBV and its health consequences, promote available services to women and girls, and listen to women and girls on barriers to accessing services with activities for female only group and inform women and girls about available services and material support in
accordance with their needs. In close collaboration with community outreach workers, she will conduct regularsafety assessments to identify key risks faced by women and girls within their community and provide support community outreach workers and other community members in developing key messages and strategies to address and/or mitigate risks faced by women and girls.

Required qualifications and competencies

Bachelor degree psychology, women’s studies, social work or public health. Minimum one year professional experience in implementing activities for women and girls or proven engagement in women’s rights/groups. Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well. Strong communication and facilitation skills. Fluency in (Bengali and local languages) required. Ability to keep records and write simple and basic reports of activities would be an added advantage. Excellent listening and observation skills, including ability to create trust, support, respect and interact with survivors of all ages, background and diversity.

Salary: BDT 35,000 – 40,000 per month.

06. Public Health Coordinator – Cox’s Bazar – (01):

The Public Helath Coordinator (PHC) will take lead for Hygiene activities and ensure the delivery of high quality and standard hygiene promotion aspects of water and sanitation activities in the targeted camps. The position will be responsible to support design and lead implementation of hygiene promotion for Rohingya Resposne Programme in the refugee camps. The PHC will work closely with the Hygiene Promotion Technical Staff on setting up Hygiene Programming for the response and its implementation. S/he will lead on identification of key hygiene practices to be addressed amongst the refugees and develop an appropriate communications strategy to promote improved hygiene practices. The position will design and manage assessments to measure progress and outcomes from the hygine intervention with the project team. S/he will assist to recruit relevant staff for the Hygiene intervention and support to enhance their technical capacity. The position holder will require extensive time spent in the Refugee camps supporting the field staff and participates in the WASH Cluster meeting and works on reporting and documentation. As a member of the response the PHC will also supports and contributes on the development and review of the Rohingya Response plan.

Required qualifications and competencies
Bachelors in public health with 3-5 years of relevant work experience. Experience in planning and implementation of community based hygiene promotion activities and with refugees. Excellent understanding of hygiene promotion activities implementation at community level. Experience of using Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Transformation (PHAST) Tool in hygiene promotion. Has knowledge on community volunteer mobilization to promote hygiene promotion in the communities. Strong facilitation, analytical, coordination and communication skills. Excellent writing and reporting skills. Sensitivity to the needs and priorities of different sectors of the community. Fluency in (English, Bengali and local languages) required.

Salary: BDT 60,000 – 70,000 per month.
