Department of Narcotics Control** (DNC) is a government agency of the Government of Bangladesh, which is responsible for the control, supervision and eradication of narcotics in the country.

🔹 Main Responsibilities:

1. Drug Control and Surveillance: To control the production, import, export, transportation, storage and use of narcotics in the country.

2. Law Enforcement: To participate in the suppression of drug-related crimes and operations.

3. Intelligence-Based Operations: To collect intelligence information and participate in operations against drug dealers.

4. Awareness Raising: To conduct various programs to make the public aware of the ill effects of drugs.

5. Registration and Licensing: To issue licenses for the use of prescribed narcotics used in pharmaceutical companies, hospitals and laboratories.

🔹 Structure of the Organization:

It is operated under the Ministry of Home Affairs*

* It has regional and district offices nationwide.
* It has its own **field force and intelligence unit** to conduct anti-drug operations.

🔹 Laws and Policies:

* The main law applicable to drug control in Bangladesh is “Narcotics Control Act, 2018”.
* The law has prescribed punishment levels for various drugs (such as: imprisonment, fine, and even death penalty).
