Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) is an autonomous government agency that promotes the development of small and cottage industries, provides institutional support, and provides training and financial assistance to industrial entrepreneurs. It is an institution under the Ministry of Industries.
Main functions:
1. Establishment and management of industrial estates:
BSCIC establishes industrial parks/estates across the country, where plots are allotted to entrepreneurs, factory sheds and utility facilities are provided.
Example: BSCIC Industrial Cities (Dhaka, Chittagong, Bogra, Khulna etc.).
2. Loans and financial assistance:
Provision of low-interest loans to small and cottage industry entrepreneurs.
Ensuring loan facilities by coordinating with various banks.
3. Training and technical assistance:
Training programs for entrepreneurs (production, marketing, management).
Technology transfer and supply of modern equipment.
4. Marketing assistance:
Organizing product exhibitions (e.g. BSCIC Fair).
Assistance in marketing products in local and international markets.
5. Research and development:
Assistance in innovating new products and technologies.
